Let’s kick off this series with some tester chat hacks! Something y’all may or may not know is that I offer chat moderation as a service. It is completely separate from my editing services. This part of my business has brought me a lot of joy this last year, watching patterns be brought to life by all of these talented makers. Helping to troubleshoot patterns, bring forth clarification, all of the things. It’s truly been a blast!

Over the last year, I’ve noticed some things that help chats run a lot smoother, and I wanted to share them, to hopefully make life easier for everyone – designers and testers alike. This is the first installment of three!

The biggest “hack” has been to use Google Docs! This platform setup has been amazing where it truly makes collaboration (which, hello testing!) simplified and easier!

  1. As the designer, you can give everyone “Commenting” privileges where they can leave feedback and thoughts as they are working through the pattern, but do not change the pattern – you get the final say. Something comes up that isn’t critical, ask for a note to be made to remember later.
  2. The other great part – everyone has ALL updates IMMEDIATELY and can adjust accordingly. No more sending out 10 emails for every update. Just share in the group to do a document refresh and they are good to go!
This is a new section for WootCrafts Edited designers to showcase tester calls.

CONGRATULATIONS to Katherine for releasing the Twisted Lace Socks!
These socks are knit toe-up, with the most stunning cable running the length of the socks! Y’all know I’m a sucker for a good cable, and these are no exception! Since they are toe-up, you can make them as long as you want without issue. Imagine some beautiful long socks with that cable! *chef kiss* Hit the links to buy the pattern and follow Katherine on IG!

CONGRATULATIONS to Anne for releasing the Spring Blossoms Shawl!
I am so honored to be a part of Anne’s first designed pattern. This shawl is built in three panels, with ZERO seaming! The middle panel holds so much texture and is a true beauty! Click one of the links below to snag a copy of the pattern, and to follow Anne on IG.

Calling all spinners!
While browsing a recent crafting email, I came across this link for Ply Magazine stating they are looking for new contributing writers. While I’m not a spinner, I wanted to share this opportunity with y’all in case you or someone you know is a spinner, and wholly passionate to write about it! There is a link in the article to view their mood boards, and it contains all of the different due dates for the different months.
