Y’all blew me away with your response to last week’s post! So… Who’s ready for more #TesterChat Hacks?

     To continue on with my love affair of Google Docs and testing, this hack comes from @handmadebyroeska. She absolutely blew my mind with this hack when I started working with her, and immediately asked if I could share and she was sweet enough to respond “Absolutely!”

What are the top four tester questions through a chat?

Do you how to bypass all that and streamline the process for everyone?

  PUT ALL THE INFO IN THE DOCUMENT!   

     Y’all, this has STREAMLINED this process through the chat so much. No one is digging for an email, no one is embarrassed because they are starting late and don’t remember their size, it’s all right there! I HIGHLY recommend this hack to help everyone! 
This is going to be a new-ish section going forward, but one that I’m hoping will be consistent. Everyone has a dream. Once people start discovering designing or writing, a lot of people have a dream to see their creations in print, somewhere other than self-publication. This section is where I want to encourage that dream. Most will be design submission calls, some will be any kind of submission call. I will try to always provide the submission website, the deadline, and their IG page. I will provide all of the full details the first time I share them. After that, in the interest of not putting out repeat information, I’ll shorten down the post, but I’ll keep the submission deadline and the link buttons in case anyone wants to follow up later. They will be ordered in submission date order, so make sure to scroll through.

MoorIt Mag has an open submission call for both patterns AND articles/essays for their Spring/Summer 2022 edition. Their website contains all of the details and the mood board. The text below the deadline is from their website. 

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: TUESDAY JULY 13, 2021, midnight BST
 

In the wake of sustained challenging times, we begin to reemerge from cocoons and head for clearer waters.

In Issue No. 2, we are looking for pieces that feel like a breath of fresh coastal air. Light and pale in colour; light and lofty to the touch; or light and lacy in texture all fit the bill here.

Bearing in mind Moorit’s Scottish climate, garments and accessories can range in appropriateness for a sunny summer spell on the West Coast of Scotland to a windy and drizzly spring morning in the city.

Moorit places equal emphasis on garments as accessories, and while our range is geared toward women, gender neutral or menswear designs are welcome too. Home decor, blankets and amigurumi are accepted, but we are not specifically seeking these.

Additionally, we are looking for proposals for one non-crochet project and for 1-2 written essays or articles which may or may not strictly follow the “Clear Waters” issue theme.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: FRIDAY JULY 16, 2021
 
The Makers of Color Collective continues to grow and our next step is to create a calendar for 2022! We are looking for 24 (12 knit & 12 crochet) unique and new designs, inspired by the moodboards below, to create 2 calendars, one knit & one crochet. Next year’s calendar will focus on handmade accessories. Each calendar will include a digital pattern of an accessory for each month. Accessory projects include but aren’t limited to: shawls, hats, cowls, mittens, headbands, bags, scarves, kerchief, snood, etc. Keep in mind that each submission should be worthy of a month spotlight. When considering submitting a smaller item, coordinating sets are better suited for this project rather than a single item. Using the details below, submit your design(s) to be considered for next year’s calendar. If you have never submitted a design, we would be honored to be your first.

While I’m not a spinner, I wanted to share this opportunity with y’all in case you or someone you know is a spinner, and wholly passionate to write about it!
