Happy Tuesday y'all! Time for another Tech Edit Tuesday Tip.

Do you use Google Docs for editing with your editor (whether it's me or someone else)? Did you know that you can make copies of the document and have completely different sharing groups? You and your editor can have a completely private document to work in, and then you can either make a clean copy without the comments for the testers or just copy the text and paste it into the current testing document. It's great if your editor and testers need to work at the same time due to a short timetable, or an editor joins the pattern after the test has started.

Make a copy - with any open comments and suggestions - and labeling "In Editing" or something similar

Big benefits: Your testers won't see all of the notes from your editor and become confused. Your testers won't see a history of all of the resolved comments (yup, those are stored for reference).

Steps to make a document for the editor: File > "Make a copy"
  • Change the name to "In editing" or something
  • Change the saved location to where you want it
  • Select "Copy comments and suggestions" - this allows your editor to see what's being suggested and can help mitigate issues.
  • Unselect "Share with the same people" - this is for you and your editor only
  • Select "Include resolved comments and suggestions" - this allows your editor to see what has been changed already and can allow for help keeping things consistent.
Now you can share as normal with just your editor. Yes, this does mean there are two versions to keep up with, but that's why you label them - Testing and In Editing.
Congratulations to Roeksa for releasing her Button Up Summer Top!
Roe has released another stunner of a pattern! This beautiful pattern is perfect for the beginner Tunisian crocheter. The pattern uses two colors of DK yarn, and one beginner maker pointed out it completely helped with seeing how to place the stitches. The pattern is made in one piece, with the only seaming is sewing the straps to the back panel. It's also size inclusive! Don't believe me on how awesome the color combos can be, check out the hashtag on IG - #ButtonUpSummerTop. This top looks hard but is deceptively easy!

This top is currently being featured for FREE on Michelle of Two Brother's Blanket's blog. I've included a link below to check it out.

Congratulations to Siobhan for releasing her Alice Socks!
Siobhan has joined the ranks of designers releasing this summer, and she's kicked it off with some killer unisex, two-toned socks! They are made up of fingering weight yarn, featuring some beautiful texture created with basic stitches. She's got some great photos through the pattern to help you out along the way! Siobhan was challenged through this pattern write-up, but she persevered and came through the other side beautifully to produce this great pattern! So, go snag the pattern and make up a set!

This is a gentle reminder that seasonal changes are coming. Disclaimer: This is targeted more for the northern hemisphere.

Eight (8) weeks from tomorrow will be Fall Solstice 2021.

Let's be clear, patterns will be bought year-round, regardless of season - I think most of us claim it as a hobby, I know I do! Hi, I buy tank top patterns in December and sweater patterns in July haha. However, if you know your niche audience is getting ready to shift their makes with the season, anticipating the shift of seasons removes some of the marketing stress of new designs. Because, seriously, let's make SOMETHING easier in designing and releasing new patterns.

If you don't have a new pattern coming out, show off how one of your current makes can be used in the coming season to get more wear. Layer tanks and sleeveless tops over long sleeves or button-ups - I prefer collared 3/4 sleeve button-ups or a plain long sleeve shirt with some of my makes. How about a cardi you've designed? Hello, seasonal transition piece to make it easy to cope with cooler mornings and hot afternoons! Show off the styling options and show people how they can get more wear out of your beautiful patterns!
If you ever need someone to talk to about a design idea, help with reviewing a submission, or working through the design process prior to going to the publication tech editor, I'm here to help you in any way I can to embrace your dream of being in print!
Also, if you see any submission calls anywhere, feel free to shoot me an email or a DM and let me know so that I can include it in the next newsletter!

I'm the newest WeCrochet affiliate!

I have taken the jump and I have become the newest WeCrochet / KnitPicks affiliate member. I'm not a huge marketing person, so I don't plan to constantly be sending out information. HOWEVER, I do believe in everyone getting an amazing deal on products they love, so I do plan on sharing the amazing deal as they become available - which honestly was the point of joining as an affiliate was the heads up on good deals haha. The links will permanently be at the bottom in my social footer, and they will be on my LinkTree. The shopping deals will always be at the bottom of the newsletters if they are included.

So that we are clear - if you use either link provided for WeCrochet or KnitPicks to shop, I make a small commission for purchases made through these links at no extra cost to you.
